Samuel Torres Jr., Esquire
Samuel Torres Samuel Torres Jr. co-facilitates training
and planning sessions, conducts policy analysis and grant reviews. He serves as Administrator and Legal Counsel for Maria Gitin & Associates. Along with his bilingual bicultural background, Samuel brings thirty years of legal and management experience, current expertise in nonprofit policies and a great sense of humor to the work. Mr. Torres is a keen negotiator, team builder and swift, accurate budget analyst.

His experience as County Counsel and Senior Administrative Analyst for the County of Santa Cruz gives him deep insight into advising boards on the policies, issues and solutions necessary for effective boards. Samuel is skilled at guiding diverse groups of individuals to reach consensus and get results. He has served on several nonprofit boards, which gives him a working knowledge of what both staff and board members need and want to know.

Mr. Torres is an active member of the California State Bar. He holds a B.S. in Sociology from Arizona State University and a J. D. law degree from University of California School of Law, Boalt Hall, Berkeley, CA. Samuel enjoys playing full court basketball on a regular basis as well as cultivating bonsai, practicing yoga and enjoying salsa and jazz music.
