Maria GitinMaria Gitin, Certified Fundraising Executive
(CFRE), is founder and lead consultant of Maria Gitin & Associates. Ms. Gitin has twenty-five years experience consulting with nonprofit organizations, foundations and training centers including serving as a trainer and presenter for the Tides Foundation, WK Kellogg Foundation, CompassPoint, Board Source, Alliance for Nonprofit Management and the Community Foundations for Monterey and Santa Cruz County. She has extensive experience with diverse organizations.

Maria Gitin is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), requiring a national board examination, and tri-annual review of her ethics, results and contributions to the field of philanthropy. She holds a B.A. from Antioch University and a Certificate from The Fund Raising School. She was founding President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Monterey Bay Chapter and has presented at AFP fundraising and diversity workshops for many chapters. Maria is a coach for the Fundraising Academy for Communities of Color with Compass Point, a member of the Drucker Foundation / Leader to Leader Institute national training team. She served as a seminar presenter, senior consultant and trainer for the Tides Foundation Community Clinics Initiative 2003-present.

Among other projects, Maria founded a YWCA domestic violence emergency shelter, launched a public library foundation and has guided the establishment and improvement of fund development programs for dozens of regional and national organizations. Her extensive volunteer work includes serving as current Chair of the Santa Cruz County Emergency Food & Shelter Board. Ms. Gitin has a lifetime commitment to pluralism, civil rights and social justice. She brings experience, insight and compassion to the groups she works with. Maria's practice of yoga and meditation support her holistic approach to supporting individuals in achieving their goals and to building community.
